Monrovia-The Civil Service Agency (CSA), under the leadership of Director-General Joesha F. Joekai, has officially launched a vigorous employee verification exercise at the Monrovia City Hall, aimed at cleaning up the government payroll and reinforcing integrity across the public service.

Speaking at the opening of the verification exercise, Joekai emphasized that the initiative is part of a broader reform strategy to ensure that only qualified and actively serving civil servants remain on the government payroll.

“This is about restoring integrity to our civil service system,” he stated. “No one will be exempt from this process—whether you are a cleaner, a clerk, or a senior manager.”

The ongoing verification includes biometric registration, professional qualification checks, and document authentication. The CSA boss warned that individuals found receiving salaries without rendering any service will be removed from the system.

“We recently concluded a one-month review and discovered serious inconsistencies-people earning without working. That is a clear violation of public trust,” Joekai revealed.

He added that the exercise is not a witch-hunt but a national accountability effort aligned with President Joseph Boakai’s public sector reform agenda.

The Monrovia City Corporation (MCC) became the first major government institution to open its doors to the CSA for this process. Mayor John-Chanukah S. Siafa welcomed the CSA team and pledged his full support.

“Monrovia is the heartbeat of Liberia. We must lead by example and show that public service is about responsibility, not entitlement,” said Mayor Siafa. “We are not just here to manage the city—we are here to transform it.”

Mayor Siafa stressed that the city government is committed to transparency and professionalism, and praised his team for cooperating with the exercise.

The CSA’s employee verification exercise is expected to be rolled out across all government agencies in the coming months. Officials say the goal is to eliminate payroll fraud, improve performance standards, and rebuild public confidence in Liberia’s civil service.

As the reform gains momentum, citizens and public servants alike are watching closely, hoping that this marks a new chapter in government accountability and service delivery.
