Monrovia-The The political tension in the House of Representatives is deepening, with Montserrado County District #11 Representative Richard Koon allegedly instructing state security to forcefully remove the vehicle of Montserrado County District #10 Representative Yekeh Kolubah.
According to the information, Representative Kolubah parked his vehicle at the official parking lot of the Speaker of the House of Representatives at the Capital Building. Representative Kolubah is a member of the self-styled Rule of Law caucus who has not recognized Representative Koon as the speaker of the majority lawmaker indicating that Representative Koon is not the legitimate speaker but the Minority speaker Cllr.
He maintained that Fonati Koffa is the legitimate speaker and where Rep. Koon usually parks his vehicle does not belong to him because he’s not the speaker of the House.
Some of the lawmakers including Representative Musa Bility Chairperson of the self-styled Rule of Law Caucus and Representative Saah Foko of Montserrado County District #9 alleged that Representative Richard Koon instructed state securities to burst Representative Kolubah’s car.
It was observed that a man protected by two officers of the Liberian National Police was drilling the door handle of Representative Kolubah’s car to remove it from the Speaker’s designated parking space.
Speaking to the media following the incident, Representative Kolubah indicated, “Richard Koon is breaking into my car. If I go to court and can’t get redress from the court to bring all the things that went missing from my car, I will break Richard Koon’s Car. If I do not do it, my Ma da my wife.”
Also speaking, Nimba County District #7 Representative and Chairman of the rule of law caucus Musa Bility said they will take legal action against Representative Koon for illegally destroying the vehicle of Representative Kolubah.
According to him, they will seek justice and will not allow violence to undermine the constitution that allows embattled Speaker Koffa to be legitimate. He stressed that they will protect the constitution.
