Liberia News: Ngafuan Lists 13 Priorities, Projects for (AAID) Arrest Agenda

Liberia-Finance Development Planning Minister Augustine K. Ngafuah has listed 13 priority programs and projects under the ARRREST Agenda for inclusive development.
At a special cabinet retreat held on October 9 and 10 under the theme, “Navigating Current Economic Realities and Strategic Planning for Fiscal Year 2025 with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai presiding ,under the ARREST Agenda, the 13 priority programs and projects for the ARRESt Agenda according to Minister Ngafuan, is intended for inclusive development of the country under the Boakai administration.
Minister Ngafuan said stressed the need for cohesive strategy that allows financial positions, budgetary planning and national development goals for economic growth and stability as the following resolutions were made during the retreat.
According to Minister Ngafuan, with the numerous comments, number one on the agenda is giving October’s financial challenges ministries agencies and commission must exercise prudent financial management by prioritizing obligations and government commitments. He said the second on the agenda of the retreat is to deliberate on the National Road Fund all state-owned enterprises, businesses importers and all concerned to strictly adhere to the laws governing the collection of the National Road fund.
He said the third issue at the retreat under the ARREST Agenda is intended for inclusive development which will be launched by the end of November 2024 as the ARREST Agenda for inclusive development Will be launched by the end of November 2024. He said budgetary expenditures must aligned with the ARREST Agenda for inclusive development as innovative and diverse funding sources and revenue generation options must continue to be explored and sought for implementation.
He added that number six of the programs is that budgeting must be enforced as revised domestic travel ordinance aimed to promote decentralization of government services reviewed and also endorsed for implementation.
“The Civil Service Agency in conjunction with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning should develop updated guidelines for the hiring of consultants to be effective in Fiscal Year 2025 and reflected in the budget thereof and a Revised Foreign Travel Ordinance was also reviewed and in dust”, Minister Ngafuan noted.
He added that the foreign travel ordinance was reviewed and revised in 2016. He said number 10 indicates the General Services Agency and the Ministry of Finance which shall reviewed the current fleet management policy of the government to propose appropriate revisions. For the cabinet’s endorsement by the MFDP and GSA which must do so within a period of one week.
