Liberia News: MICAT To Celebrate World Tourism Day

…With Reconciliation, Cultural Exchange

Liberia-The Ministry of Information Cultural Affairs and Tourism will host an official celebration of World Tourism Day in Buchanan City, Grand Bassa County. In a Cultural Exchange and economic growth in this year Grand Bassa County has been selected as national host for the celebrations of the world’s tourism day.
Speaking at the regular press conference, Kadiatu D. Konteh-Brohin, Deputy Minister for Cultural Affairs and Tourism, at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs and Tourism (MICAT) said this year’s celebration will focus on sustainable tourism, which promotes environmental preservation and community engagement and essential.
For a peace full coexistence, world tourism day 2024 will emphasize the importance of responsible tourism and supports local livelihoods while preserving like natural beauty for future generations.
Madam Brohin noted that with its rich history, diverse culture and stunning natural beauty, Liberia has the potential to position itself as a key destination in West Africa and globally the temperatures and peace aligned with the government products of committing peace and reconciliation in post conflict Liberia as well as formatting the arrests agenda.
Madam Brohin narrated that they have a prevent awareness educational campaigns and promotional initiative by some of the counties who are raising awareness of potential as well as to have stakeholders engagement close coordination with local leaders, businesses and community members in Grand Bassa County.
Madam Brohin disclosed that this year’s event will not only highlight the beauty of Grand Bassa County, but also elevate liberal standing as a peaceful and vibrant tourist destination.
Madam Brohin said one of the most powerful drivers of economic developments of this year’s world tourism celebration is job creation and poverty alleviation with its vast tourism potential leverage its natural resources and historical landmarks.
Madam Brohin emphasized that this year’s celebration will have cultural performances, traditional performances, the rich cultural heritage of Grand Bassa highlighting Liberia’s diversity side, souls storage as well as attendees will be taken on a guided tour.
In collaboration with local authorities, Grand Bassa County has organized a series of events leading up to the main celebration aligned with the global theme, “Tourism and Peace.”
“We all know how peace is cutting out our existence. in this great, Republic, the event will demonstrate how tourism foster peace by promoting cultural on the same increasing economic opportunities and contributing to sustainable development,” Madam Brohin noted.
