…Seeks Logistical Support To Tackle Waste Challenge

Liberia-The Mayor of the Monrovia City Corporation John-Charuk Siafa, on Thursday November 14, paid a courtesy visit on H.E. Yin Chengwu, Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China.

The visit aims to strengthen ties with the Chinese Embassy and to also seek a quick-impact support from the Chinese government to address challenges posed by waste.

While congratulating the Government of China for their role in Liberia’s development drive, the Mayor informed Ambassador Chengwu that sanitation and waste management are high priority issues that the ARREST Agenda seeks to address.

The Mayor of the City Corporation described China as a practical friend that the Corporation looks forward to partnering with to bring relief to the residents.

“We are seeking quick interventions to address our short term needs and with the availability of the necessary logistics we can make significant impact” he stressed.

Responding, Ambassador Chengwu reaffirmed the commitment of the Government of the People’s Republic of China in supporting the agenda of His Excellency Amb. Joseph N. Boakai, President of the Republic of Liberia.

The Ambassador further assured that his Government will keep engaging with the Monrovia City Corporation on issues of mutual interest.

On the sideline of their meeting, Mayor Siafa together with Ambassador Chengwu briefly attended a Chinese Embassy donation to the Monrovia Consolidated School System where they both made remarks.
