Liberia-Grand Bassa County Incidence Management System Surveillance Officer Janjay Glay has confirmed the six cases of Lassa fever in Grand Bassa County.
Mr. Glay disclosed that the six cases of Lassa fever that were recorded from Electoral District #3 A and B with one of the victim dead. Lassa fever is an acute viral hemorrhagic illness caused by Lassa virus a member of the arenavirus family of viruses.
According to the correspondent of the Liberia Broadcasting System Mr. Glay made the confirmation during the county incidence Management System meeting to update the public concerning the public health status of the county.
He uses the meeting to urged the residents of District #3 of Grand Bassa County to take a preventive method by not eating rats, included food eating by rats and continue washing their hands.
Mr. Glay informed the citizens that the Grand Bassa County has both Lassa fever and M poxy.
It can be recorded the National Public Health Institute of Liberia on October 11, confirmed one case of the M Poxy in Grand Bassa County. He further indicated that the Surveillance system team were able to quintain and contact 20 persons for 21 days and allow them to go home.
