Liberia-In an effort to mend divisions within the Liberty Party, Acting Chairperson Madam Rugie Barry has initiated a nationwide reconciliation meeting aimed at uniting leaders and members following a prolonged period of internal conflict.

ย

On Saturday, October 12, Madam Barry led a delegation of party executives from the national headquarters in a daylong “One Liberty Party Meeting,” with executives from the Grand Bassa Chapter.

ย

In an exclusive interview with a local radio station in Buchanan, Madam Barry highlighted the extensive divisions that occurred under the leadership of Musa Bility. Since assuming her role, reconciliation has been a primary focus for her.

ย

She emphasized that uniting the party’s leaders and members is essential for rebranding the Liberty Party ahead of the 2029 elections rather than perpetuating conflicts that have severely tarnished the party’s image.

ย

Madam Barry revealed that the reconciliation process, which began on October 12 in Grand Bassa, will culminate in a “reconciliation agreement” among party leaders and members nationwide. Following this, the party will determine its candidate for the 2029 elections at an upcoming convention.

ย

General Secretary Jacob Smith expressed gratitude for Madam Barry’s leadership, noting that reuniting the party would honor the legacy of its founding political leader, the late Cllr. Charles Walker Brumskine.

ย

Smith asserted that Liberty Party remains a formidable force for the 2029 general elections, despite past challenges.ย

The reconciliation meeting concluded with smiles from party executives representing both Grand Bassa and Montserrado Counties, who embraced a new chapter for the Liberty Party in the upcoming elections.
