Monrovia-Liberia is being earmarked by the leadership of the International Organization of Supreme Audit Institutions(INTOSAI) for a visit by an INTOSAI delegation not in the ensuing months.

The team’s visit to the country is expected between March and April, 2025.

This was made possible by the participation of the Auditor General of Liberia P. Garswa Jackson in an INTOSAI event in Paris, France.

He was one of six Auditors General invited to fully conceptualize and ope rationalize the inaugural “SAI Independence Global Project.”.

Following the meeting held from Monday, January 27, to Wednesday, January 29, 2025, six countries including Jamaica, Jordan, Liberia, Morocco, Paraguay, and Spain were selected to experience in-country visits by the leadership of INTOSAI and partners.

The visit will set the stage for the team to meet with key government and non-governmental stakeholders to understand the individual country’s context and champion discussions leading towards the full ope-rationalization of the SAIs independence, consistent with the INTOSAI’s Mexico Declaration.

The visit also is seen as an opportunity for the Government of Liberia to present and commit to its Anti-Corruption Agenda and showcase to some of the most powerful and influential anti-corruption institutions that support for good governance practices will remain a top priority of this Administration.

The INTOSAI Development Initiative is in collaboration with the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Swiss State Secretariat of Economic Affairs (SECO), the INTOSAI Policy, Finance and Administration Committee (PFAC) – under the leadership of the General Court of Audit of Saudi Arabia and the United States Government Accountability Office, the INTOSAI General Secretariat, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) designed the Global Project on SAI Independence.

The ambitious project launched early 2024 aims to revolutionize the way the INTOSAI community advocates for the independence of Supreme Audit Institutions (SAIs) by focusing on the informal factors that shape their operations and effectiveness.

The project also seeks to establish a new approach to advocating for SAI independence by understanding the informal factors influencing the implementation of INTOSAI’s Mexico Declaration principles.

GAC says through the global endeavor, IDI and its partners will collaborate to create resources and products that promote better advocacy and awareness of SAI independence.
