Monrovia-Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman has reaffirmed his belief in the integrity and professionalism of the investigators conducting the ongoing inquiry in the arson attack at the Capitol Building.

He emphasized that the investigation has been carried out without political interference or bias, with no connection to or coordination with any political party. “The evidence speaks for itself, and those identified as persons of interest are being treated as individuals, irrespective of their affiliations,” IG Coleman stated.

Speaking at the National Police Headquarters yesterday, IG Coleman stressed the importance of democratic principles, highlighting that accountability and transparency are critical to maintaining public trust. “The fragility of peace cannot be used as a justification for ignoring criminal behavior. Those who have committed crimes will be held accountable,” he said.

IG Coleman clarified that this is not a political campaign or movement but a fact-driven investigation seeking justice. He acknowledged ongoing misinformation campaigns attempting to undermine the process but assured the public that the investigation is based solely on evidence. “There is no room for manipulation or undue influence. The process remains transparent and democratic, driven by the commitment of our professional team,” he stated.

To reinforce accountability, IG Coleman disclosed that all allegations of misconduct by officers will be thoroughly investigated. He highlighted that the Professional Standards Division has been tasked with conducting immediate reviews, and the Civilian Complaint Review Board provides an additional layer of oversight. “These mechanisms ensure that any abuses of authority are promptly addressed,” he affirmed.

“We respect the dignity and rights of all individuals involved. This investigation is guided by the highest standards of fairness, integrity, and professionalism. Any attempts to discredit or interfere with the process will not deter us from seeking the truth,” IG Coleman emphasized.

In conclusion, he reaffirmed the mission of the Liberia National Police (LNP): “We remain steadfast in our mission to uphold justice and democracy, and we will continue to operate transparently as this investigation progresses.”
