Liberia News: Education System Needs Urgent Action

…Shoniyin Tells RaCDI Graduates

Liberia-The Managing Director of Africa Development Management Associate (ADMA), Elias Shoniyin has told graduate of the Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute that the Liberian Education System needs urgent action.

According to him, the average level of the education in the country is 48.3 percent which is below 5o percent. He stressed that it is half below the country’s population.

He further disclosed that the educational level at the counties level in the rural areas is less than five percent something the   government and its developmental partners including individuals need to take urgent action to contribute and change the narrative.

Speaking Saturday October 5, 2024 during the first Cohort Professional Skills Development Training Program of Graduation of Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute, the Dean of the School of Global Affairs and Policy at the Cuttington     University of Liberia attributed the low education system of Liberia to neglect and visionless leaders.

Mr. Shoniyin said Liberians are used to electing leaders who do not have vision stressing that it is about time the voters take key accounts on those who they elect as their leaders.

He furthered that the solution to improving the educational system of the country needs the government ability to increase the educational budget of the country to address those challenges that are confronting the educational system.

Speaking further, Mr. Shoniyin urged the graduate to see themselves as leaders who will take responsibilities.

“If something happens, you will see a leader take responsibility, a leader will fine solution to a problem,” he indicated.

Mr. Shoniyin however, specified that one of the best solutions   to Liberia’s problem is honesty stressing that those who are playing leadership role in the society need to be honest and focus on the impactful needs of the majority and not for their personal benefits.

He said corruption comes from those within the community who are given the opportunity to serve in public offices stating that the attitude they take from their various communities are taken to the government where they have access to public funding.

Also speaking, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute, John Gray, expressed gratitude to all of those who have help in making such a dream become a reality in transforming the lives of many young people to become professionals.

Mr. Gray said the training program has professional facilitators. The Renaissance Consulting and Development Institute graduated 58 professional Liberians who obtained their three months confiscate in Public Speaking, Community Development Service and Peace Building, Event Planning and Management, Project Proposal writing, Thesis Writing, Youth Development and Mentorship program, Strategic Leadership Training program, Professional and institutional Development, and Website Development Concepts.
