Monrovia-Feb-6-TNR: Several Liberians have admonished President Joseph Boakai to ensure that unity is preserved within the ruling Unity Party and its alliances.
The concerned Liberians who are mostly supporters of Joseph Boakai said information coming from the heads of the party and its alliances relating to jobs allocation by the President who has the constitutional responsibility is not healthy for the party.
Phoning in on a local radio station in Paynesville on the recent political development with the Unity Party National Chairman Rev. Luther Tarpeh who allegedly supported his supporters to stage a protest at the home of President Boakai, the callers inquired why the National Chairman and others are yet to be appointed in Government.
According to them, President Boakai needs to pay key attention to those who were on the political frontline during the October and November presidential elections for peace and unity.
The callers noted that it was not a decent thing for the party’s National Chairman to protest against his own making, emphasizing that such action hurts the party and the government that he has helped to obtain victory. They noted that both President Boakai and Tarpeh need to show leadership in resolving issues concerning the party and the government.
The Unity Party’s concerned supporters further called on President Boakai to use his leadership skills to restore peace and unity within the party, stressing that he should not allow the delay of the appointment of some key partisans in government to create disenchantment amongst partisans as a result of disunity.
They also condemned the action by the party’s National Chairman describing such action as lack of leadership. The callers noted that such action on the part of their National Chairman has brought the party to public disrepute and he needs to apologize for such unpatriotic action.
