Monrovia-Liberian President, Joseph N. Boakai has proposed some key reforms his government has earmarked on to implement although he did not attach any timeframe to those proposals.

Boakai in his second State of the Nation Address invoked what he called, “Movement of Truth” which he said was in the supreme interest of the country. The Liberia leader among other things said he will propose an action plan to address the state of national unity.

As part of the proposals, the president said he will propose a review of the Constitution to address shortcomings in the Organic Law of the land, propose comprehensive electoral reforms to strengthen Liberia’s electoral process and democratic credentials.

The Liberian leader also said he will propose a plan to recognize ECOWAS for their vital contributions to maintaining peace and stability during crucial times in Liberia’s history.

One of the plans the president has is to initiate plans for the proper burial of former presidents William R. Tolbert and Samuel K. Doe, two of Liberia’s slain past presidents.

Late President Samuel K. Doe killed late president Williams Richard Tolbert in a bloody military takeover on April 12, 1980, a condition that brought him to power as President of the Republic.

Seminally, Prince Y. Johnson who fought for then rebel group, Independent National Patriotic Front (INPFL) captured and reportedly killed Samuel K. Doe on September 9, 1990. The two late leaders who whereabouts of their greaves or remains are unknown, are set to have a monument or recognition from the current Liberian President, Joseph.

The proposal from the president comes nine days after Nimba County late Senator Prince Johnson who reportedly killed Doe late President Doe received a hero burial in Nimba. The State Funeral of the late senator might have pushed President Boakai to propose initiate plans for the proper burial of former presidents William R. Tolbert and Samuel K. Doe, two of Liberia’s past presidents were murdered.
