Liberia-Prince Y. Johnson, late Nimba County Senator, was laid to rest in Ganta City, Nimba County. The body of the late Senator before his final departure, took a tour to Major towns and villages in his Native Nimba County.

Mourners from all walks of life gathered in Nimba paying tributes, remembering him for his roles in their lives. The homegoing of the late Senator attracted both current and past lawmakers including government officials.

It was attended by former President, George M. Weah and current President, Joseph N. Boakai.

Paying his tribute to the late Senator, President Boakai said, “Senator Prince Y. Johnson was a man of many complexities. Someone whose life was shaped by the intricacies of our history.

President Boakia said, “His role in Liberia’s political evolution was nothing short of impactful, and he will forever be etched in the annals of our national story. His presence in the political arena was both commanding and formidable.”

The Liberian president remembered the late lawmaker as a person who had an extraordinary ability to rally people, particularly in his home county of Nimba.

He was remembered as political acumen and capacity to connect with the masses earned him admiration from his supporters and respect from even his critics.

The Liberian leader said, “It was this very strength, his remarkable ability to influence and lead, that allowed him to be a force not only in Nimba County but across Liberia. His leadership transcended regional lines, and he became a key figure in shaping our democratic process.”

He indicated, “With sympathy to his widow, family, friends, supporters, and the people of Nimba and a sense of reflection, I join you in memorializing the late Senator Prince Y. Johnson of Nimba County.

As we come together to mourn his loss, we also take a moment to reflect on his profound influence on our nation’s political landscape.

The Liberian leader acknowledged that Senator Johnson was someone who ultimately embraced the path of peace, stating “it is important to acknowledge that, in his later years, Senator Johnson worked diligently to promote healing in our nation.”

President Boakai said, “In addition to his political and military influence, Senator Johnson also found solace in his faith by embracing the role of a pastor. This transition reflected his desire to make peace, not just with his fellow Liberians, but also with God.

He added, “Like many of us, he sought to come to terms with his past and find peace with the Creator. This journey of spiritual reconciliation speaks to the universal longing for redemption and healing, resonating with all of us.

As a nation that has faced significant challenges, we must pursue genuine reconciliation and find peace with both our past and ourselves.”
