Monrovia-A chilling act of child abuse has sent shock waves across Liberia after a viral social media post revealed the horrifying ordeal of a 9-year-old boy allegedly subjected to inhumane punishment by a local garage owner.

The incident, which occurred at an unidentified location in Monrovia, has drawn widespread condemnation and swift action from the Ministry of Justice.

It all started when Daniel S. Mulbah, a concerned citizen, took to social media to expose the brutal treatment of the young boy. His post featured disturbing footage of an adult male, believed to be the garage owner, pinning the child to the ground and sitting on his head an apparent form of punishment for an undisclosed wrongdoing. According to Mulbah, bystanders tried in vain to intervene, but the alleged perpetrator refused to release the child.

As the video spread across social media platforms, public outrage mounted, prompting the Ministry of Justice to issue a firm statement condemning the act. Citing the Child Rights Law of Liberia (2011), the Ministry labeled the abuse as a gross violation of children’s rights and vowed to take immediate legal action.

“The Ministry has instructed its Child Justice Department to take charge of this matter, conduct a swift investigation, and ensure that the alleged perpetrator is held accountable under the law,” the statement read.

Authorities have since called on the public to assist in identifying the suspect so that justice can be served. Concerned citizens with any relevant information have been urged to contact the Department of Child Justice at the Ministry of Justice, 14th Street, Sinkor.

This case has reignited discussions on child abuse and the urgent need for stronger enforcement of child protection laws in Liberia. Advocacy groups and civil society organizations have joined the call for justice, demanding that the accused face the full weight of the law to deter similar acts of violence against children.

As the investigation unfolds, one thing remains clear Liberians are standing together to ensure that no child suffers in silence.

The Ministry of Justice has assured the public that it will leave no stone upturned in bringing the perpetrator to justice and reinforcing the nation’s commitment to protecting its most vulnerable citizens its children.
