MONROVIA–In an effort to ease the stress associated with obtaining passports in Liberia, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, (MoFA) has launched the decentralization of passport issuance, across the country.
The launch, which is phase two targets the creation of twenty centers globally.
Making the disclosure, Liberia’s Foreign Affairs Minister, D. Maxwell Saah Kameyah noted that the exercise is in fulfillment of his genuine desire to ensure that Liberians across the country have access to passport applications.
The process is intended to give all Liberians across the country access to passport applications.
Speaking Thursday, February 23, 2023 at the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism (MICAT)’s Regular Press Briefing, Minister Kemayah, indicated that the passport application centers have been opened in the following countries: The United States, Cities of Atlanta, Georgia, Canada, Toronto, and South America.
The rest are, Brazil, Turkey, Spain, Italy, Sweden, Germany, Netherlands, France, South Korea, Japan, Senegal, Egypt, and the United Arabia Emirate
The Dean of the Cabinet furthered that the creation of these centers globally, it portrays the frank efforts the Government of Liberia is engineering aimed at transforming the Country’s Diplomatic Sector.
Earlier, the Government of Liberia, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs had launched phase one of the Passport Application Centers in various countries which include, Australia, South Africa, Chicago, Kenya, and Los Angelia, California Liberians are excited to go through the application processes.
He mentioned that the process will allow Liberians to participate in the electoral process of the country.
Kemayah has expressed Liberians’ willingness to the actualization of the initiative
“We are optimistic that every Liberian will help in sharing the messages to friends and relatives aboard,” he hoped.
The Dean of Cabinet furthered that as part of efforts to ensure that the initiative is successful, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has engaged the services of VFS Global to produce passports in those various countries.
