MONROVIA-Since the passage of the milestone Dual Citizenship Law, the Liberian, President George M. Weah has been receiving endless praise from Liberians at both home and abroad.
The latest person to heap praises on President Weah, is the Director-General of the Anti-craft, the Internal Audit Agency, David Kemah(IAA)
Speaking recently at the launch of the IAA’s Auditing Software and scorecard, the IAA Boss said, “Let me also at this time express my appreciation to his Excellency for his leadership on the passage of the Dual Citizenship Act.
According to him, the passage of the law led to his sealing through at confirmation process at the Liberian Senate.
It can be recalled that during his confirmation, he admitted to being an American Citizen.
He said, “I publicly admitted that in addition to my Liberian citizenship, I also had a foreign passport.”
Under previous Law, the IAA’s Boss’ status as a dual citizen would have unqualified him for the said position because positions of such are meant for only citizens of the Republic of Liberia.
He said, “ Consequently, I can proudly proclaim that I am the first presidential appointee and the first beneficiary publicly exercise my rights to dual citizenship.”
Not only him, but when the law was passed by the lawmakers and subsequently approved by President Weah, lots of commendations passed his way.
