MONROVIA-The Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the supervision of Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayeh has launched the Liberia passport center in six countries around the world where Liberians are residing and do not have access to facilities to capture biometrics for acquiring Liberian passports.

Kemayeh made the statement following the regular Thursday MICAT’s Press Briefing on January 19, 2023.

MICAT is the Ministry of Information, Cultural Affairs, and Tourism. He said a traveler without a passport is like one without life.

“We at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have made a decision to extent counseling-related services including giving out passports to other Liberians in other parts of the world,” he noted”.

Kemayeh narrated that those countries that Liberians are requesting for passport application include: Kenya, USA (Chicago), Australia, South Africa, India and USA (Minnesota).

According to him, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has embarked on serious reforms since taking over as Minister of Foreign Affairs along with his team.

He mentioned that one of those reforms embarked upon is the opening of additional passport application centers in places where the need exists.

He furthered that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has additional areas where Liberians are in need of passport application centers which include: Ghana, Nigeria, Chine, London, US Washington DC, New York, and Brussels.

According to him, the discussion of passport application centers across the world has been initiated under the supervision of President George Manneh Weah to ensure that Liberians that are in need of coming home can have easy access to passports.

He mentioned that today, Liberians that are in Nairobi can have easy access in applying for passports through the supervision of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Kemayeh narrated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has joined hands with VFS Global Company to help in giving Liberians that are in other countries easy access in receiving passports.

He mentioned that on February 24, 2023; the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will launch phase two of the Liberian passport application center across the world where Liberians are in need of passports.

Kemayeh narrated that the cost of a passport for Liberians in the diaspora stands at one hundred and sixty United States (US$160) Dollars.
