MONROVIA-The Monrovia City Government is expected to ban the movement of containers within the city limit during the day hours, as a means of ensuring safety measures.
Though not specific as to the date said action will take effect, the city government through its mayor Jefferson Tamba Koijee says it is a joint effort by the corporations, Liberian National Police, and the Ministry of Transport.
Koijee further mentioned that they are also in communication with businesses within the waterside limit to settle down with them on this latest action.
This, when materialized, will be a great relief for residents not only in Monrovia but other surroundings. Over time, citizens have decried the unrestricted movement of containers which has to some extent resulted in the death of citizens.
It can be recalled that sometime last year, a container allegedly belonging to Aminata Petroleum Corporation lost control and ran into the commercial hub of water street destroying properties, businesses, and several occupants.
Giving his annual report, Koijee believes this will resolve the longstanding issues around the movement of the container.
