LFA Appoints Keita

The Liberia Football Association as appointed former National team midfielder Alseny Ochacha Keita as scout in Europe.

The football house gave the former Lone Star’s player the mandate to scout and recruit players with Liberian origin.

The former AC Ajaccio defensive midfielder is tasked to negotiate with players based in Europe that are eligible to represent the Liberian national team.

LFA says: “The Liberia Football Association herein grant Mr. Alseny Keita official mandate to scout and recruit players with Liberian origin. This mandate grants Mr. Alseny Keita the rights to negotiate with players with Liberian origin on behalf of the LFA,”

In response to the appointment, Alseny Keita commended the leadership of the LFA most especially its president Mustapha I. Raji   for the confidence repose in him to work for Liberia.

He promised to give his all to get the best crème of players with Liberian origin to come and join the project building process of the nation as to enable Liberia to once again compete with other top football nations in Africa.

“I am passionate to again work for my country, particularly the Liberia Football Association. I am going to set up a team locally and internationally to kick start this work as soon as possible, we want to see Liberia at the level of other country in Africa in term of football,” he said.

He added:” There are  lot of talented players out there with Liberian background, we are going to use our connections to get them onboard as to get the national team project on path; many of them in Europe want to play for their country but have no connections with the LFA, and with the mandate of authority given us, we are going to get them onboard,”

Keita made 16 appearances for Lone Star between 2011 and 2016. His only goal was scored on his debut which ended with a 4-2 defeat to Cape Verde on March 26, 2011 in the 2012 AFCON qualifiers and his last game was a 4-1 defeat away at Tunisia in the 2017 AFCON qualifiers on September 4, 2016.

He played his professional football for clubs in Guinea, Morocco, Switzerland and France.

Alseny Ochacha Keita played for many clubs in Africa and Europe including,  Horoya AC, FUS Rabat, SC Chabab, FC Luzern, FC Windisch, AC Ajaccio, Senart-Moissy, JA Drancy and  Viry-Chatillon
