CAPITOL HILL-Some Liberians have expressed serious concern over the delay in resolving the ongoing crisis at the legislature on grounds that the speaker is a lawyer and was going by the law, to proceed with legislative work.

“Our lawmaker have long been doing this, but this one chocked them. They will learn their lesson from this speaker. From here, it will be hard to elect a lawyer to be speaker,” Roland S. Peters, a resident of Clara Town who had gone to the capitol building to see Monday’s proceedings said.
He was quickly supported by others at the legislature.
“They have been removing speaker, but they meet up with a hard headed man. They will think twice next time now to elect lawyer in the future as their speaker,” Sylvester Quinah said.
When one young lawyer was contacted on his take by phone, he said: “lawyers know more. With this, they will block lawyers way now to become speaker in the future. I tell you; they will think twice before they elect a lawyer to become speaker.”
When one staffer was asked, she responded: “we ourselves are surprised. But I think the speaker is saying the right thing. All of your come together and vote if you really mean it. At least Hon. Samuel Kogar agreed to the ECOWAS team proposal, but his friends said no. But the way they are behaving now, looks like they are not sure of removing him from the seat.
When one of the majority bloc members was called, he said, they were determined to remove him. But added, “every situation brings new lesson. To elect a lawyer as speaker, future lawmakers will think, especially if that person is from an opposition, will think.”
