MONROVIA-A recently constructed bridge in the Catholic Community of District #10, Montserrado County, has collapsed, cutting off hundreds of residents from essential access routes.

The structure, built under the oversight of Montserrado County Representative Yekeh Kolubah, is now at the center of public concern and criticism.

The bridge, valued at approximately US$16,000 (L$3.2 million), was reportedly completed just two months prior to the 2023 presidential and legislative elections. According to community reports, the collapse is believed to have resulted from poor construction standards and substandard materials used during the project.

The disaster has severely affected daily life in the area, leaving schoolchildren, pregnant women, the elderly, and entire families stranded with no safe crossing point. Residents now fear the onset of the rainy season will worsen the situation and pose additional risks to public safety.

This incident adds to growing public scrutiny over election-related infrastructure projects that often lack durability and oversight. Many are now demanding accountability and questioning the role of elected officials in ensuring transparency and quality in community development efforts.
