Monrovia-December 10, 2025: A delegation from the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development met Monday with Liberia’s Minister of Finance and Development Planning, Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, to reaffirm the Fund’s commitment to financing the Gbarnga–Mendikorma Highway.
During the meeting, discussions focused on accelerating the implementation of the Salayea to Konia section of the highway. Nawaf Fares Al-Dabbous, Senior Engineer Adviser at the Kuwaiti Fund, emphasized the Fund’s dedication to finalizing the technical aspects of the corridor.
“We are here to assure you and finalize this technical mission concerning the corridor from Salayea to Konia,” Al-Dabbous said.
Minister Ngafuan expressed deep appreciation on behalf of President Joseph Nyuma Boakai and the Liberian people for the Fund’s continued support. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to the project.
“Seeing you makes us happy. Your presence assures us that the road from Salayea to Konia will be done,” Minister Ngafuan said. He added, “We will not slip on our obligations.”
The Gbarnga Mendikorma Highway is a critical road corridor that is expected to enhance connectivity and boost economic activities in Bong County and surrounding areas. The Kuwaiti Fund is one of the project’s original Arab lenders and a principal financier.
