Several inmates of the Monrovia Central Prison on Saturday joined the Monrovia City Government to clean the densely populated Commercial hub of Duala as part of their contribution to the ” Weah for Clean Cities ” first Saturday initiative.

According to the Monrovia City Council (MCC), the inmates’ involvement is part of the Bureau of Correction and Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Justice community service program which has been made active under the watchful eye of Assistant Justice Minister for Correction and Rehabilitation, Eddie Tarawali.

Minister Tarawali said inmates selected to participate in the cleanup exercise have gone through rehabilitation and are proven to be responding positively.

He noted that the Bureau will strengthen its community service program in order to allow inmates at various prisons across the country meaningfully contribute to societal growth and development.

Minister Tarawali said the Bureau will continue to remain engage with the Monrovia City Government and other cities across the country through its community service initiative.

He has called on every Liberian to join the Monrovia City Government to help maintain a clean, green and safe city, something he said promotes a healthy environment for all.

The Chief of Staff in the office of Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee Franco Grimes lauded Minister Tarawali and his team for the initiative.
