Imam Ali Krayee Condemned

-Over Controversial Statements Toward Legislature

Liberia’s Chief Imam Ali Krayee has been condemned by Liberians for controversial statements toward the National Legislature of the Republic of Liberia.

Imam Krayee recently staged a verbal attack on the first branch of the Liberian Government (the National Legislature) branding that august body ‘the most useless branch of Government.’ In the country.

The Muslim cleric said the National Legislature should be dissolved, saying “it has over the years been non-functional with no regard for the reasons of its creation.”

Imam Krayee maintained that dissolving the first branch of government will allow the Executive branch of government to work freely in the interest of the ordinary people. He also blamed the failure of the country on past and current governments.

Article III of the Constitution of Liberia specifies the functions of all three branches of government and how to carry out their functions-based on checks and balances.

The Imam’s comment comes in the midst of what many considered as provocative impeachment Bill against Associate Justice Kabineh Mohammed Ja’neh, a Muslim as well, coupled with the mysterious disappearance of billions of Liberian dollar banknotes.

But calling on Okay FM Tuesday November 6, 2018, Liberians condemned the chief imam for such controversial statements and called on him to retract his statements against the first branch of the Liberian Government.

According to them, while it is true the first branch has some lapses, it doesn’t give the chief imam the rights to make such statements toward the honorable body. Some of the callers recommended that members of the first branch of government invite the chief imam to explain in detail why he used such invectives against them.
