Security officers of the company have been alleged of torturing a Liberian (John Davies) in a video. The company has also been alleged of bad labor practices and violation of the concession agreement signed with the Liberian Government nine years ago.
Based on such, the House of Representatives headed by Speaker Bhofal Chambers setup a specialized committee to investigate the situation and make recommendations where applicable.
The company was earlier summoned by the House to explain what it knows about such situation emanating from the plantation.

Despite these difficulties the company has been faced with, it has remained committed to the lawmakers who are the representatives of the Liberian people.
Speaking Thursday when the company was invited to receive the mandate of the Liberian people through their lawmakers after the investigation was carried out, House Speaker Bhofal Chambers thanked the company for being so cooperative since the investigation started, something he said is a clear demonstration of the company’s commitment to the Liberian people.
“We are not enemies, we want you do the right things for our people so that their welfare is being taken care of. We are a friendly business country and a business-friendly legislature. We think you have been cooperative as we have sent for you and you been on time,” Speaker Chambers said.
