MONROVIA-President George Weah is expected to shortly turn the tap for the pipe-borne water distribution in central Monrovia.

In a statement issued by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) the turning of the tap for the pipe-borne water is intended to restore pipe-borne water to all parts of central Monrovia.

The statement further indicated that the project was initiated following the approval of an additional US$30 million (thirty million United States dollars) support to the LWSC on both express transmission line and a one million gallons reservoir for Paynesville Rock Hill Community.

According to the statement, the projects are simultaneously being constructed. Additionally, the LWSC’s formation reveals that the express line will replace the old transmission pipeline to Central Monrovia which has become ineffective and untraceable while the reservoir will be used to supply in the Paynesville Rock Hill Community.

Speaking to our reporter a resident of the Rock Hill Community Augustine Toe expressed gratitude to the Liberian Government for working to address the water constraint they are faced with.

According to him, for too long they have been experiencing serious challenges due to the lack of pipe-borne water. He said with the coming in of a one million gallons reservoir for Paynesville Rock Hill Community, it will be in the best interest of the residents.

Toe said during the dry season they as residents undergo challenges to get drinking water and another well as water to be used for other activities by the residents.

“We can suffer during the dry season for water,  our children go in the other communities for water, yourself look at how this hill is looking for the children to go up with bucket on their heads, is something you need to think about my brother “, he indicated.

He further urged the Liberian Government to recondition the GSA Road to Rock Hill community that is in deplorable condition.

According to him, the reconditioning of their roads is definitely going to relieve the community’s residents from such difficulty as being experienced by them.
