The grand Mufti of Liberia, Abubakar Sumaworo has urged Muslims of Liberia to continue praying for the country.
He said the almighty Allah has the solutions for whatever situation that may arise on the earth so they should keep offering prayers because he has the ability to answer prayers beyond human comprehension.
The Grand Mufti Sumaworo was speaking recently at the end of an inspiring workshop for senior Imams organized by the Union of Imams and Scholars of Liberia in collaboration with the A. S. Charitable Society under the auspices of his office.
“Do not only pray for economic solution but also social, religious as well as political solutions among others,” he encouraged them.
He indicated that Islam teaches the followers of Mohammed to have respect for constituted authorities including other religious groups because it preaches love and peaceful co-existence without discrimination and as such, he encouraged his brothers and sisters to offer special prayers on a daily basis for President George Manneh Weah along with the officials of his government.
“I am confident that Allah, our creator will solve our problems so do not listen to what people are saying out there just remain focus,” he assured them.
The Muslim Cleric further noted that the workshop was intended to revive the Mosque in terms of its functions relative to the communities and to also sharpen the skills of Imams so as to undoubtedly preach to their congregations according to the teaching of Islam.
According to him, 192 participants from Montserrado, Cape Mount Counties; Margibi, Bomi and Bong Counties including their environs attended the similar in Ganta, Nimba County with 120 Imams in attendance.
“We had local and international facilitators who lectured on Divinity in Islam, relationship between Muslims and Muslims as well as non-Muslims and Teaching Methodology including political and religious leaders,” he said.
Sheik Abubakar Sumaworo briefly pointed out that the roles of the Mosque is to preach peace and bring the people together and to also serve as a major factor in educating them about how to become a useful citizen so that they should engaged in constructive initiatives and love Allah.
“Be prepared to work with the authorities of your cities, villages and towns for the cleaning of your communities at all times.
He stressed that inheritance should be handle according to Islamic instruction by distributing all the properties of the dead to the entire family members pointing out that Imams should establish Scholars in their Mosques so that they can be there to settle disputes among families,” he indicated.
He however extended warmest congratulations to the President, the government and the people of Liberia on the commemoration of the country’s 171 Independence Anniversary.
