Gov’t Caught In Uphill Fray

MONROVIA-Monrovia City Mayor Jefferson T. Koijee has told the marketers to leave the Redlight area as they (MCC) were visiting the area the night before the planned meeting.

Mayor Koijee said they as the government has got the responsibility to protect their citizens.

According to the MCC boss, the marketer’s convergence at Redlight is dangerous as they (government) will not hesitate to do the needed things for the safety of its citizens.

“This place is governed by leadership,” the MCC boss said in a serious tone. He said anyone who thinks that he or she is going be lawless; the authority at the MCC is going to ensure that the laws on the books are used to create sanity in the country.

“Do yourself a favor to start relocating by tomorrow. Is either you relocate yourself or we help to relocate you” he sounded the caveat to the marketers.

With all the caveats being sounded by the government, it appears like marketers are not willing to be relocated to the Omega Market, a place that the government said contains many rooms to accommodate more people.

Till now, marketers are still busy with their merchandise selling in Redlight.

Some of them who spoke with this paper said the government caused them to return because the first sets of people who returned were not sent back by the government, something they said, encouraged others to join.

“Nobody will pass by people selling in Redlight and come to Omega Market” Peter, a fellow who sells jeans said.
