As discussion on the president’s proposed twenty-five million United States dollars stimulus package continuous at the level of the Legislature, the Executive Director of Orphans Concern wants Orphanages prioritized.

According to Amos Sawboh, orphanages should be high on the agenda of national government on grounds that it housed most of Liberia’s vulnerable population.

Speaking via mobile Tuesday, April 21, 2020, he said more emphasis should be placed on children in orphanage homes especially during these difficult times of the country history.

Sawboh maintained now is the time for Government, local and international organizations to move in with sanitary materials and food items for children in the various homes across Liberia.

He further that orphanage no matter where it is should be considered as one of the top most priority of government and important sector of group of vulnerable people.

“Food is the most important of all right now because if children are not well fell, we might face another situation after the COVID-19 is over.”

He also asserted that people in all of the homes across Liberia are not fully aware of the deadly COVID pendamic in the nation as such there need for massive awareness in those areas cannot be understated.

“Government should make a move in reaching those vulnerable population at the different orphanages through awareness and sensitazition. At this point there should be truck load of food, sanitary materials as well ad rising awareness amongst the population in those orphanages to help prevent the spread of the virus.”

Orphans Concern was established in 2015 the same being the post Ebola era in Liberia to among other things advocate, mentor, monitor, and provide food supplies and other necesities for children in orphanage homes in the country.

The organization deals with orphans from the civil war, and Ebola pendamic from across four of the fifty-four accredited orphanages in Liberia.

Orphans Concerns is a local organization partnering with Bridge International and another local NGO to meet the needs of orphans at different homes in Liberia.
