–To Prevent Spread Of COVID-19

The Government of Liberia is expected to carryout jail delivery as a means of decongesting prison population from being infected with the deadly corona virus.
Making the disclosure at the Ministry of Health in Congo Town, Deputy Minister for Press and Public Affairs at the Ministry of Information said government through the Ministry of Justice is carrying out a vigorous process to have people with less crimes or criminal records released from Jail.
He noted in the spirit of fighting the spread of COVID-19 in the country it is equally important to move into prison centers to have people release, but requires do dilegence something that the Ministry is working in this regards.
“You do not want armed rubbers, murderers, and rapists out on our streets to add to the already existing workload of the Joint Security, as such the ministry of justice is working hard to considered decongesting our prison population.”
Fahgone noted that it would give a bad look of things should the virus enters the already congested or overcrowded prison population.
Me indicated that those with less crimes or criminal records ranging from civil matters will be highly considered during the jail exercise by the Government through MOJ.
“I’m sure we do not want the decongestion of prison population to reflect the release of murderers, rapists, and armed rubbers,” Minister Fahgon
