-Over Motorcyclist’s Death
Police and protesters early Wednesday morning clashed in Barnesville outside Monrovia following a tragic motor accident involving a truck and a motorcycle. The accident resulted into the death of a motorcyclist and wounding a passenger.
According to our reporter, the violence erupted when a moving truck plying the road collided with a transport motorcycle killing the motorcyclist and leaving a passenger critically wounded.
Eyewitnesses on the scene explained that the incident glinted violence when angry crowd attempted to burn the truck.
Some eyewitnesses explained further that due to occurrences, some officers of the Liberia National Police responded by allegedly firing teargas to disburse the crowd with intense resistance leading to the alleged used of live bullets to bring the situation under control.
The eyewitnesses further said a lady named withheld sustained bullet wound on the left side of her neck, but was urgently taken to a medical center for immediate medical attention.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Police have arrested several persons in connection to the violence and are be held by police at the headquarters of the LNP on capitol hill, for further investigation.
It was earlier reported that the lady was dead, but the spokesman of the Liberia National Police, Moses Carter speaking on Okay FM following the incident confirmed that the lady was not dead and later denied report of police officers using live bullets at protesters according to their investigation so far.
