-Over Ja’neh’s Impeachment

By Jackson C. Clay, Jr.

The Economy Freedom Fighter of Liberia (EFFL) has accused President George Weah of being the mastermind behind the impeachment of Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh from the Supreme Court bench.

Making the disclosure Thursday, February 28, 2019 on the grounds of the Capitol Building on Capitol Hill, the group in a statement said orchestrator of what they termed as national disrespect, unorthodox, political motivated and illegal impeachment of Associate Justice Ja’neh.

“The EFFL is unapologetic to evidently and reliably unearth that the President of the Republic of Liberia George Manneh Weah is the orchestrator of what they termed as national disrespect, unorthodox, political motivated and illegal impeachment proceedings of Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh,” the group statement noted.

The group in the statement also described the process as total display of arrogance, egotism and indiscipline from the House of Representatives, particularly those the group termed as surrogates of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) led government towards the Supreme Court.

The statement also quotes the group as saying that it has received undiluted information about the alleged flow of cash to members of the Liberian Senate for President Weah to carry out the process.

“The EFFL hereby inform the honorable Liberian Senate that it has received undiluted information about the heavily flow of cash from President Weah and his boys to manipulate the Senate hard earned reputation and integrity and by profusely voting the direction contrary to Liberians anticipation,” the stated stressed.

The group noted that despite all of the alleged manipulation from the executive, it still believes that the Liberian Senate still has the integrity and constructively organize with individuals they believe are rational that regard the rule of law and the sanity of the Liberian Senate.

However, the group condemns the action by the House of Representatives to vote in favor of the Bill to be sent to the Liberian Senate, thus, described them as dunk founded and pocket followers of the Executive.

The group also believes that this impeachment process has undermined the country’s hard-earned democracy and international reputation, thus, inviting poverty to the country and its people, because according to them international partners and donors consider good governance and the rule of law as a requisite for aids towards national agenda and development.

“With the latest development, the EFFL safely arrived at the conclusion that this government is not interested in the key issues that matter, but rather it has embarked upon tainting the integrity and reputation of the judiciary system and looting treasury of our country,” the statement stressed.
