-As CHO Goes In The Operation Room

Report from River Gee County says there is an acute shortage of Medical Doctor in that part of Liberia.
According to the County Health Officer (CHO) of the county, the only assigned Medical Doctor who was in the area has prematurely cut short his stay in the area and moved to Monrovia.
The disclosure was made by Dr. Trokon Washington, River Gee County Health Officer (CHO) in an interview with ELBC’s Super Morning Show (SMS).
“As we speak, the only referral hospital in our county (River Gee) is without a Medical Doctor. The only doctor who was assigned here recently went to Monrovia under the pretense of attending to some family issues, but later informed our office that he was no longer coming back,” the CHO stated on the SMS.
According to Dr. Washington, due to the lack of a medical doctor in River Gee, he has been forced to play a double role by serving as both CHO and at the same performing surgical operations on patients in the hospital.
“Due to the shortage of doctor at the only referral hospital in River Gee County, I am constrained to perform surgical operations while at the same time serving as county health officer,” he said. TNR
