Monrovia-The The Civil Service Agency (CSA), under the leadership of Director-General Josiah F. Joekai, has taken firm action to enforce President Joseph Boakai’s mandate on asset declaration compliance.
Following the suspension of over 450 government officials for failing to declare their assets, the CSA swiftly blocked the salaries of 216 officials, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to transparency and accountability.
Dr. Joekai emphasized that no official is above the law and urged those affected to comply by declaring their assets to the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission (LACC) and obtaining clearance from the Ministry of State for Presidential Affairs before being reinstated.
The salary suspensions resulted in $104,073.25 USD in savings, which will be placed in an escrow account pending President Boakai’s decision on its allocation, possibly for critical sector projects.
Beyond payroll enforcement, Dr. Joekai highlighted the CSA’s broader efforts, including salary adjustments for civil servants, retirement system reforms, and ensuring all government employees receive fair wages. He reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to good governance, stating, This is not just a temporary measure; it is a new standard under President Boakai’s administration.”
As the government continues its anti-corruption drive, the CSA remains at the forefront, ensuring public sector integrity and financial accountability.
