MONROVIA-The opposition Collaborating Political Parties, (CPP) inclusive of the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and Liberty Party, (LP) will on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in Nimba County convene national convention.

Speaking on Truth FM, 96.1,  LP’s Secretary-General, Martin Kollah mentioned that the objectives of the convention are to officially endorse the Standard Bearer of  CPP, Alexander B.  Cummings by the Delegates from across the Country.

Kollah pointed out that the Delegates are selected from the two major constituent Political Parties, the Alternative National Congress (ANC) and Liberty Party (LP).

He was not clear if Cummings will announce his running-mate following his endorsement, but indicated that naming a running mate is key on Cummings’s Agenda and the CPP.

He told the media that the reason the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is worrying about the CPP’s Running Mate is that the government is aware that it will be defeated in the upcoming elections.

According to him, the CDC and other political actors are praying for Mr. Cummings to select a weaker running mate.

He said the CPP is not in a hurry to select the running mate of Mr. Cummings.

The Liberty Party Secretary-General confirmed that the CPP Leadership has been strategically engaging political parties.

He noted that the objectives of these engagements are centered around the idea of selecting a running mate.

Kollah stressed that the selected running mate is expected to possess the core values of CPP.

He mentioned that the CPP is not concerned about a stronghold of a county, but Liberians in general who believed in the leadership ability of Mr. Cummings will vote for him.

Kollah pointed out that the CPP is hoping for a female running mate for Cummings.
