MONROVIA-Counting is underway in the just ended by election in four counties-Bong, Bomi, Nimba and Grand Gedeh counties, a statement from the National Elections issued late Tuesday said.

“The National Elections Commission, (NEC) says voting in the four By-election Counties of Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba, got underway Tuesday under a peaceful atmosphere, with nearly all voting centers opening at 8:00 AM,” it said.
The By elections is took place Tuesday due to the election of four representatives to the upper house in December 8, 2020. They were Senators Edwin Melvin Snowe (former Representative district number one Bomi), Prince Moye (former Representative Bong district number two ), Zoe Pennue (former Representative Grand Gedeh district number one), and Jeremiah Koung (former Representative district number one) respectively.
“The NEC informs the public that counting of ballots will begin immediately after the close of polls at 6:00PM Tuesday in the four counties,” it said.
According to the there has been no report of any real incident of violence since the opening of polls at 8:00AM in the By-election counties. But said, during the early morning hours, there were some misunderstanding at the Faith International Center, with code number 15074 in district #1 in Grand Gedeh County. The situation was quickly resolved and voting has since resumed in that precinct.
“NEC-Liberia says a total of One Hundred Twenty-two Thousand Five hundred and Eighty-one (122, 581) registered voters are expected to vote in the By-elections in electoral district number 2, Bong county, electoral district number 1, Bomi county, electoral district number 1, Grand Gedeh county, and electoral district number 1, Nimba county,” the statement said.
