-IRCL Secretary General Terms Bishop Winker’s Comment; Says “I Think He (Bishop) Will Die First”
By Jackson C. Clay, Jr.
The Secretary General of the Inter-Religious Council of Liberia (IRCL), Musa Bamba has described as a ‘complete nonsense,’ statement coming from the Bishop of the Dominion Church, Bishop Isaac Winker.
It can be recalled that during a church service at Dominion Church in honor of CDC-led government’s one year in office, Bishop Winker said anyone who criticizes or rises against President George Manneh Weah’s government; God himself will rise up against such person.
This statement by the Liberian clergyman has been greeted with series of criticisms from the public and has become the topic for discussions with the latest being the Inter-Religious Council of Liberia.
Addressing newsmen in Monrovia over the weekend, IRCL Secretary General Musa Bamba said it is complete nonsense for the man of God to have made such a comment.
“It is a complete nonsense to say anybody who criticizes the government will die. So, the Bishop who said anybody who criticizes George Weah will die, I think he himself will die first,” Bamba said.
Bamba asserted that people have to constructively criticize the regime, because according to him, if this is not done, the regime would think that everything is okay and well, everything is not alright with the people.
Bamba indicated that there is no country on planet earth that everything is 100% alright with its people, thus, citing the great United States of America.
“People have to constructively criticize and oppose the government so that the government can know that people are around watching them. The reason why people criticize the government is for the government to change and know that something is happening that is not going well with the people,”Bamba stressed.
