The Center for National Documents and Records Agency (CNDRA) Director General Emmanuel A. Lomax says a little over five million United States dollars is needed for the implementation of the agency’s five year strategic plan.

Speaking in Monrovia at the dedication of the newly refurbished Marriage Section and the Department of Programs and Projects, DG Lomax said part of the ambition plan will lead to the digitization of the Liberian Archives and the construction of a National Public Library.

The CNDRA Boss said the dedication of the refurbished Marriage Section and the Program and Projects Department depicts a huge achievement for his administration and the CDC led government.

“Now that we have unveiled the two sections, I expect excellent work environment that will in return give us productivity. We think that there will be lots of values added to the archives as we progress in years,” he noted.

The National Archives Director General is at the same time encouraging employees of government to double their efforts in serving the state.

According to him, officials and employees of government should follow the example of President George M. Weah with the aim of working in the interest of the public by providing the favorable working environment for its citizens.

Meanwhile, DG Lomax promised that his administration at CNDRA will obligate itself to the confidence bestowed in him by the president of Liberia in making CNDRA great and powerful again.

“Over the last ten months, we started the rebranding exercise of CNDRA with the quest of making it technical and accessible to the public,” he added.

For his part, Mr. Paylay Halay, Director of Programs and Projects said his office will ensure that more new developments will be established for the institution.

He said “We will work in collaboration with administration to ensure that we have a digital records management system at the National Archives of Liberia which will permit the entity not to search for records physically.”

“Search for records and other legal instruments will be done electronically as soon as the client make  their requests in few minutes , our digital record management system will be able to display the information,” he said.

In remarks, Mrs. Ayessatu K. Carpenter, Registrar of the Marriage Section lauded the administration of the CNDRA for the huge level of transformation taking place within the institution since the arrival of DG Lomax.

She said the transformation of both departments marks another great milestone for the National Archives of Liberia family.

She revealed that the venture is one of the many changes taking place at the National Archives under the Director General Lomax.
