Chief Justice Francis Korkpor has threatened to render a “Default Judgment” against Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh if he fails to file his return to a writ of summon issued him by the priest of the Supreme Court on or before Monday, February 25, 2019.
The writ of summon served on Justice Ja’neh is said to be in accordance with Article 43 of the 1986 Constitution of Liberia.
The writ of summon issued by Chief Justice Korkpor sets the stage for the commemoration of the lawmaker’s bill of impeachment against the Associate Justice.
Writ served on both parties in the legal battle, means that Justice Korkpor will preside over the matter thus giving him (Korkpor) jurisdiction to subpoena Justice Ja’neh to answer to the allegation levied against him by the House of Representatives.
It can be recalled, that two lawmakers, Representatives Acarous Gray, Montserrado County electoral district eight and Thomas P. Fallah, Montserrado County electoral district five, both of the governing Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) filed a writ to impeach the second man on the Supreme Court’s bench (Ja’neh) for felonious crimes ranging from Theft of Property, Perjury, Frauds, Corruption, Proved Misconduct, Abused of Public Office, Wanton Abused of Judicial Discretion and Misuse of Power.TNR
