Chamber of Commerce Elects New Leadership

The Chamber of commerce of the Republic of Liberia has elected a new leadership which will steer the affairs of the institution.

The colorful event took place at the Chamber of Commerce headquarters on the Capitol Hill, Monrovia.

Mr. J. Wendell Addy was elected on a white ballot while three members were elected on the arbitration Committee and eleven other candidates were elected on the executive council.

In a statement issued by Mr. Addy after his victory, he said Liberia is prosperous and rich in natural resources and its most valuable assets is it people.

He also added that his vision is to see a nation of people who embrace their differences and celebrate their collective mission to build a united people, a strong nation and world leader, in addition, he said to having a clear vision and mission it is imperative to believe that it is possible for Liberia to become a united people and strong nation and as such, the Chamber must reposition itself to be the strong collective voice of the business community and drive economy expansion for the good of the country.

The statement further outlined some cardinal issues that the President-Elect, J. Wendell Addy administration will engage into which include the followings: to reinstate LCC monthly luncheons to interact with the public officials, international organizations and business executives on key public issues and business success stories, establish a functional resource center, restore LCC’s Membership in sub-regional and international organization, seek independent opinions from universities and experts to guide the Chamber in its deliberations on key government policy issues, amongst others.

Also speaking at the program was Commerce Minister, Hon. Wilson Tarpeh, who lauded the Administration of President George Manneh Weah and said his administration is willing to work with the LCC in order to promote businesses in Liberia.

Minister Tarpeh also called on the LCC leadership to remain steadfast and vigilant in the exploration of commerce in the country. He then commended the leadership for its preferment.
