CDC National Youth League Condemns Snowe

By Reuben Sei Waylaun

The Revolutionary National Youth League (RNYL-CDC) of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) has in a strongest term condemned Bomi County electoral district one Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe, a staunch member of the opposition Unity Party (UP).

Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs and die-hard member of the governing CDC, Eugene Fahngon was on Wednesday September 12, 2018 humiliated and sent to jail for two days, fined LRD4999.99 cent and described as ‘none-governmental material’ for what members of the House of Representatives termed as ‘gross disrespect’ to them.

Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe complained Fahngon to the plenary of the House of Representatives for allegedly insulting him following an incident with a staff of the lawmaker’s office, Kelvin D J Matadi who Minister Fahngon alleged of photographing him in a public glare while having his private life.

Addressing a major news conference on Friday, the Revolutionary National Youth League of the CDC condemned in the strongest term what it calls creeping menace of ‘divide and rule’ been played by Representative Edwin Melvin Snowe.

The statement released by the party’s Youth League National Secretary General, Emmanuel Mulbah Johnson recounted that it has since detested the character in Hon. Snowe dating as far as history is concern, most especially when he took on the new venture into the field of ‘amateur photographing’ of their political leader now president of Liberia sometimes back while on their way to Zurich, Switzerland.

“We don’t want to be reminded of the ‘Palava Hut’ scenario that eventually breed a great division between the Executive and the legislative branch of government. Consequently, the Youth League continues to be highly enthusiastic about collaborating with individuals for the good of the CDC’s led government and we see the legislature as a great partner in promoting the government’s “Pro-Poor” agenda.

“But make no mistake, the attitude of individuals who like to be seen in the habit of sowing the seeds of discord among our partisans will remain under the highest level of scrutiny and there is absolutely no debate or uncertainty about the deadly political machination in Snowe,” the statement added.

The RNYL-CDC is at the same time calling on its members, the young people of Liberia and the partisans of the Congress for Democratic Change to be steadfast and not allowing the ‘agents of provocateur’ to get them going against their own as this is the ‘same chicanery’ that took the ‘dying Unity Party’ to its ‘grave’ today.

“With history on our side as a mass-based and grassroots party, the mighty CDC has/will continue to cherish its brightest and finest intellectuals but will not tolerate any act of rudeness on the part of any public officials that will act in disregard to the standard befitting a public official. The leadership of the Revolutionary National Youth League of the mighty Congress for Democratic Change strongly believes that this government, this generation of political actors, and conscious men and women from every sphere of life should put aside their individual differences and strive together to make this country great,” the RNYL-CDC noted.

The Youth League has meanwhile commended the government of Liberia under the leadership of President George M. Weah for the unprecedented level of democratic truism exhibited thus far; which have seen the uninterrupted exercise of separation of power among the three distinct branches of government.

“The need to have a united front as a government in order to foster a concrete state of governance and usher in a developmental approach for the well-being of the Liberian people cannot be overly emphasized. For too long as a nation, we have allowed cheap politics, pettiness and self-interested quest to outshine and outlive the true essence of being in political authorities, which is, seeking the general welfare of the people. As a true patriot and a president who believes in the rule of law, President Weah has continued to demonstrate his sincere sense of upholding the constitution of Liberia, thus erasing the culture of domineer presidency that was exhibited by previous regime most especially the dying Unity Party of former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf,” the Revolutionary National Youth League added.
