MONROVIA-The leadership of Congress for Democratic Change a constituent member of the Coalition for Democratic Change on Sunday memorialized the infamous victims of November 7th in Zwedru.
In 2011 following the general and presidential elections with Unity Party of former president Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Winston Tubman of the Congress for Democratic Change that resulted to the victory of the former ruling Unity Party.
The Congress for Democratic Change detested the result announced by the National Elections Commission and announce a protest to reject the result.
During their assembling at the CDC Headquarters in Congo Town the police dislodged the supporters of the CDC with a discharge of firearm thus killing a supporter of the CDC and brutalize some of their supporters on that November 7, 2011.
According to the National Chairman of the CDC, Mulbah Morlu, this year memorialized event will take place in Zwedru as part of the party’s rural program.
“CDC continues to grow stronger and stronger in rural Liberia, especially in many important con constituencies, like Grand Gedeh,” he noted.
Mr. Morlu said Partisans of the CDC were in high spirit to reflect on the historicity of the party’s difficult political struggle during its opposition days.
The CDC National who is visiting rural Liberia gave a cow and 50 bags of rice for the occasion on Sunday.
During memorialization a soccer match and a memorial service were carried out at the Zwedru Assembly of God (AG) Church on Sunday.
“The sad memory of this tragic event ought to summon in all of us the need to reunite around our common denominator, the party’s emblem. I make this plead to all, especially pre-2011 members to return and enlist in the rebuilding process” he lamented.
Mr. Morlu at the same time stressed the need for reconciliation with in the CDC “every one of you, let’s ‘Come together and make Liberia free”.
