-Boakai Sounds Warning, Mandates Justice Minister to Investigate

By Mark N. Mengonfia

Liberia-Liberia’s President, Joseph N. Boakai has described the burning of the Capitol building as lawlessness, despicable, unpatriotic and has warned that lawlessness will not be tolerated by his government.

Liberians wake up to news of an outbreak of fire at the seat of the Legislature Wednesday; a news spread like fire something which made lawmakers, government officials and ordinary Liberians to troop their way to get a glance of the disaster.

President Joseph Boakai said when he visited the grounds of the capitol, “We are here to console them for his despicable, unpatriotic act that is taking place here.”

The Liberia’s president said there is a lot of wanton destruction that is going on in Liberia adding, “Beginning with this, we are not going to tolerate any more in this country.”

The president acknowledged that “We are a poor country and people are trying to help us and other people are bent on destroying this country.”

The Liberian president encouraged those who are dissatisfied to make use of the laws and not by using any unorthodox means.

“You have a problem, we have the rules of law, we have every way in this place to be able to listen to you, but we are not going to accept this” he said in an angry tone.

President Boakai furthered, “We are asking the minister of justice, all of the security apparatus including our friends to investigate this to the letter” indicating that who bear responsibility, “we will deal with them and we will set the tone for all other people who when they get angry they burn down the police.”

The Liberian leader said his government is not going to allow such an act to go unpunished stating, “This is not the place for hooligans, this is the place for responsible people who are here to serve the Liberian people, this country is poor and I do not care what they do, we will build this country for future generations.”
