Baptist Soul Winning Conference Ends 101st Session

-Gets Greenlight for Cross Border Fellowship

By Esau J. Farr

The 101st Bi-annual Session of the Association of Regular Soul Winning Baptist Churches in Liberia has come to an end in Jorwah Town, Bong County near the Liberian-Guinean border.

The conference which was under the theme, “What must I do to be saved” with text taken from Acts 16:30-31 was held with the Jorwah Baptist Fellowship near the border with Guinea in upper Bong County.

The Baptist Soul Winning Conference is headed by Pastor John F. Tuankan, Senior Pastor-In-Charge of the New Life Baptist Church in the Omega Old Field Community as President.

Pastor Tuankan is holds an ‘AA’ Degree in Secondary Education from the LICOCESS Mobile Teachers Training Institute, ‘AA Degree’ in Biblical Theology from the Jake Memorial Baptist College on 11th Street in 2000 and BSc in Secondary Education from the William V.S. Tubman Teacher’s College at the University of Liberia with several years of teaching and religious experience dating back in the 1980s.

As part of the goal and objective of the conference, at two hundred and eleven (211) souls were reported to have been won onto Christ while several back-slided believers were reported to have re-dedicated their lives to God as a result of rigorous evangelistic activities of the Evangelism Department of the conference headed by Pastor Obadiah Pawell.

The conference was intentionally taken to the Liberian border town near Guinea based on the fact that the town (Jorwah) suffered some of the greatest killings, destruction of properties and looting during the long running civil unrest in Liberia due to its proximity (nearness) to Guinea.

Meanwhile, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was proposed to be entered into between the Liberian Soul Winning Baptist Conference and the English Protestant Church in Lakpalai, Guinea for a cross border fellowship between the two West African nations.

When entered into, the churches from both countries will be allowed to establish their individual branches on either side of their borders.

Lakpalai and Beneta are two closer border towns into the Guinea side of the border with their inhabitants being largely Kpelle speaking people and have and continue to have intermarriages to date.
