Liberian News: ‘Let’s Reject Bitterness’

Monrovia-President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr., has beseeched Liberians including Grand Gedeans to reject all vices that only adds strife to contentions already existing.
Speaking at the State Funeral Service and Reburial of former President Samuel Kanyon Doe and Burial of former First Lady Nancy Bohn Doe, the President passionately appealed to every Liberian to also reject bitterness and that Liberians should “walk forward with hope, guided by love for our country and faith in our shared destiny.”

Liberian News: President Boakai Grants Full Ownership Of Oil Blocks To NOCAL

In a landmark decision to strengthen Liberia’s energy independence and economic prosperity, His Excellency President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr. has allocated four offshore oil blocks to the National Oil Company of Liberia (NOCAL) with full 100% ownership. Liberian News: Pres. Boakai Extends Tariff Suspension

Monrovia-In a move aimed at reducing the financial burden on Liberian households, President Joseph Nyuma Boakai on June 5, 2025, signed Executive Order No. 150, extending the suspension of import tariffs on rice. The order reaffirms the government’s commitment to stabilizing the price of the nation’s staple food and continues the provisions of the earlier Executive Order No. 125, which removed tariffs on key rice categories.

Liberian News: IT’S ‘FAIR’ AND ‘UNFAIR’

Monrovia-Public opinion is divided over the arrest and detention of some members of the House of Representatives at the Monrovia Central Prison following their indictment by the Liberian National Police (LNP).
Many termed their arrest and detention as fair while others said it is unfair in a social media opinion generated by advocate Martin K.N. Kollie.
The LNP last Friday charged former House Speaker, Cllr. J. Fonati Koffa (Grand Kru District 2), Abu Kamara (15th District Montserrado County), Dixon Seboe (16th District Montserrado), Jacob Debee (Grand Gedeh), and Pricilla Cooper with diverse crimes in connection with what happened to the capitol building on December 18, 2024.
