Rep. Kargon Meets Chinese Ambassador

Nimba County district four Representative, Gunpue L. Kargon recently met with the Chinese Ambassador to Liberia aim at addressing some needs of his district.

In a recent communication to the Chinese Ambassador, Fu Jijum, Representative Kargon stated that, “We are deeply grateful to the people of the Republic of China for affording us the opportunity to share the current status of District four in Nimba, Liberia as well as seek intervention to the many problems withholding our people”.

The Nimba County lawmaker commonly known as ‘Dubai King’ who outlined his development plans said he is currently negotiating with the Chinese Ambassador and other stakeholders to address the needs of citizens.

Some of the recommendations to the Chinese Ambassador include the provision of scholarships for the less fortunate youth to attend secondary school, undergraduate, graduate, and post graduate, trade institutions in and out of the country.

Rep. Kargon is also negotiating with the Chinese Ambassador to provide opportunities in agriculture for local farmers and to establish link with Chinese agriculture companies to invest in his district.

“We are able to provide the land and the labor to start farms in various locations across the district”, he stated

In term of infrastructure, Representative Kargon informed Ambassador Jijum that the district is in dying need of road and public facilities.

The ‘Dubai King’ said there is a need for clinics in various communities in the district and at least one major hospital. He stated that the district health sector is poor just as the overall health sector in the country and this is due to bad road condition.

Rep Kargon also highlighted the issue of electricity, but pointed to a solar system, a safe drinking water from the constructions of hand pumps among others.

Meanwhile, the Chinese ambassador welcomed the district four development plan and said China is willing to work with the district through diplomatic channels. He however extended hand shake with the ‘Dubai King’.
