NBYC Ends 42nd Bi-Annual Convention

The 42^nd Bi-Annual Conference of the National Baptist Youth Council (NBYC) has ended in David Dean Town, Kokoyah Statutory District, Bong County with a call for believers to see themselves as useful vessels of the Lord.

The convention which brought together over six hundred delegates from over thirty youth groups from Nimba, Bong, Montserrado, Margibi, River Cess and Grand Bassa counties was held under the theme, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth…” with text taken from St. John 1:46-7.

The 42^nd Bi-Annual Session of the council was held with the Soul Winning Baptist Church in David Dean Town in Kokoyah, Bong County and it was the first time for the Baptist denomination to hold such a great gathering since the establishment of the gold mining town.

As part of the purpose of the conference and the Great Commission of the Christian religion, more than twenty-five souls were won and added to the church.

The Soul Winning Baptist Church in David Dean Town is one of the outstanding and known churches in the mining area, but chose the theme, “Can any good thing come out of Nazareth…” with text taken from St. John 1:46-7 in order to disabuse the minds of people who have the mindset that nothing good can come out of a gold miner or people who live in “Gold Camp”.

Making remarks at the end of the conference on Sunday October 7, 2018, the President of the NBYC expressed joy over the turnout of delegates at the session considering the economic constrains facing the country coupled with bad road conditions to the mining site and the reopening of schools since most of its delegates are grade school students.

Mondeyesco N. Y. Tulorgbo said though he was not surprised by the huge turnout, but the number of delegates present at the venue of the conference was beyond his expectation.

“I am not surprised by the huge turn out because I know my people are cautious and passionate about the works of God, but I must admit that I did not expect this turn out considering the different circumstances surrounding the timing and location of the venue of the conference coupled with serious economic crisis currently facing our country,” the New Jerusalem Baptist Church Firestone 26^th Gate prelate told conference delegates just before departure.

His statement was contained in a vote of thanks he delivered to the hosts, conference delegates and collaborating churches and authorities of the Gold mining site whose efforts helped for the successful holding of the session.

The National Baptist Youth Council is a conglomeration of youth groups from fundamental Baptist churches in Liberia whose membership is opened to Baptist churches of like faith in the Lord with a mission to bring all onto repentance and the saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, the President of the mother organization of the group, the Association of Regular Soul Winning Baptist Churches in Liberia has expressed joy over good reports coming from the venue of the conference and the orderly manner in which the youths conducted themselves during their stay in that part of the country.

“I am especially impressed by the works being done the new leadership of your organization. From the information gathered and continue to receive from the conference site, I want to say thanks to you all for job well done and let God be glorified and honored, but not man,” Pastor John Tuankan said in a telephone conversation with the Secretary General of the conference, Esau J. Farr.

The New Life Baptist Pastor pointed out the attendance and support given by conference delegates should teach a strong lesson to the leadership of the NBYC saying, “Your friends are coming to your calls because they trust you all; remember, this is a youthful leadership with so much expectation from the congregation and therefore you the leaders have to reciprocate this trust with honesty, transparency, accountability and above all, love and care for all no matter the level of education, age and status,” he warned.

The new leadership of the NBYC include, Mondeyesco N. Y. Tulorgbo of the New Jerusalem Baptist in Division 26^th Gate, President, Gondai K. Seton of Grace Baptist-Gbarnga, Vice President and Esau J. Farr of the New Life Baptist Church-Monrovia, Secretary General.

Others are, Reagan Gbarquoi of the Gethsemane Baptist Church in Kakata, Recording Secretary, Jerome Tuakolon of Grace Baptist Church-Gbarnga, Financial Secretary, Larry Caleb Boimah, Jr. of the Mt. Sanai Baptist Church in Gbarnga, Mass Chior Director and Madam Korto Binda of Gethsemane-Kakata , Treasurer amongst others.

The next venue of the conference which will be the 43^rd Session of the NBYC is with the Good News Baptist Church in Gbartala and it is expected to be hosted during the 2019 Easter break to allow students and others form part of the conference there in good number.
