Monrovia-The Chairperson of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, Senator Prince Moye, has clarified that at no time did he informed the people of Sanoyea that the Government of Liberia was going to rehabilitate their road with asphalt pavement.
According to him, asphalt pavement is very cost-intensive and cannot be implemented in the current budget of the government which has been misrepresented in the media.
Speaking to the media in Bong County on Thursday, May 8, 2025, Senator Moye indicated that the the government has committed to allocating US$3 million to rehabilitate the road from Phebe to Tototain District# 6, Bong County.
The Unity Party Lawmaker and political godfather of Bong County, disclosed that phase one of the road rehabilitation will begin from Totota to Sanoyea at the cost of over US$800,000.
He asserted that over US$800,000 was captured under the Ministry of Public Works budget for 2025 to start the rehabilitation road project.
Speaking further, the chairperson of the Bong County Legislative Caucus said government is devoted to allocating the remaining US$2.2 million in the 2026 national budget to continue rehabilitating the road of which is every member caucus’s priority on road connectivity across the county.
According to him, phase two of the road will commence from Sanoyea to Gbonota, and then onward to Phebe.
The Bong County Legislative Caucus Chairman stated that government intends to make the roads pliable in all seasons, as was indicated by the Liberian President, with one hundred days’ deliverable.
Senator Moye also narrated that he is committed to a holistic reconciliation of the county leadership, including the legislative caucus.
He disclosed that the Bong County legislative caucus is divided, and there is a need for reconciliation among them as leaders to foster peace and development.
