MONROVIA-The Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has concluded the second phase of the knowledge-sharing workshop aimed at informing Liberian students about opportunities in South Korea and fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
Day two of the program took place on Thursday, October 16, 2025, at the African Methodist Episcopal University (AMEU) in Monrovia. The event brought together students, KOICA representatives, and other stakeholders eager to learn about Korea’s development initiatives and educational opportunities.
Speaking during the event, KOICA Country Director Eunsub Kim emphasized the importance of the long-standing bilateral relationship between Korea and Liberia. He noted that KOICA remains committed to supporting Liberia’s development through capacity-building, skills transfer, and human resource development.
Kim said their goal is to empower Liberians to become change-makers by providing access to training programs in technology, agriculture, and other vital sectors.
Throughout the workshop, experts delivered insightful presentations on topics including Digital Capital Markets, Drug Awareness, Agriculture, and Diplomacy.
The sessions highlighted the significance of innovation, social responsibility, and international collaboration in addressing 21st-century challenges.
The event was part of a broader series of educational engagements aimed at strengthening knowledge exchange between Liberia and Korea.
Earlier this month, a similar program was hosted at the University of Liberia by the Korea Aluminum Association, which also focused on student empowerment and skill development.
According to KOICA’s Deputy Country Director, the agency remains steadfast in its mission to contribute to Liberia’s socio-economic development through sustainable partnerships and educational programs.
“Korea’s journey from poverty to prosperity was driven by education and innovation—values we hope to share with Liberia.” she added.
Representatives from AMEU expressed appreciation to KOICA for organizing the workshop, describing it as “timely and impactful.” They pledged the university’s willingness to maintain collaboration with KOICA to advance student development and academic exchange initiatives.
Participants at the event were encouraged to make use of the knowledge acquired and explore opportunities for further studies and professional growth through KOICA’s programs.
The workshop concluded with renewed optimism for continued cooperation between Liberia and South Korea, as both nations work together to strengthen education, technology, and innovation for mutual progress.
