CNDRA Signs MOU With Local NGOs

The Center for National Documents and Records Agency on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 signed a Memorandum of Understanding with six local nongovernmental Organizations for the purpose of implementing CNDRA decentralization efforts in Liberia.

They include; Empowerment Rehabilitation Services (ERS), Foundation for All Ages Liberia FAAL), and Liberia Education Action for Development (LEAD).

Others are; Liberia Peace Building Network (LIPNET), National Foundation Against Poverty & Disease (NAFAPD) and Sustainable Livelihood Promoters Programme (SLPP).

During the signing ceremony, CNDRA Director of Programs and Projects, Henry G. Swaray said the local NGOs currently operating in Sinoe, Grand Bassa, Nimba, Lofa, Grand Gedeh, and Grand Cape Mount counties will engage the Japan’s Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Project (GGHSP), for possible grant to construct local CNDRA facilities to enhance decentralization of the National Archives.

Swaray explained that the local NGOs connect local government officials to facilitate the provision of adequate and accessible land spaces in the shortlisted counties to be used for the project and upon completion of the project, the main buildings, other structures equipment and furniture’s, as part of the completed GGHSP application form becomes properties of the Government of Liberia (CNDRA).

He added ‘’the NGOs will work along with the CNDRA to ensure appropriate arrangements for timely delivery of project materials, based on GGHSP requirements and guidelines’’ he added.

Presenting remarks on behalf of the six local NGO’S, Z. Elijah Whapoe, Founder of the Liberia Education Action for Development (LEAD) thanked leadership of CNDRA Director General C. Neileh Daitouah for affording such opportunity to Liberian NGO’S adding that only few private and public institutions of government prioritize or grant proposals from local groups to major projects in rural Liberia.

He promised that in the case of unforeseen circumstances like underestimation of cost of materials during the implementation period, the local NGO’S will underwrite all additional cost arising thereof.

The National Archives Director General C. Neileh Daitouah admonished representatives of the local NGO’S to work in the interest of Liberia saying Liberia is all we have.

CNDRA is an institution of government that is among others cloth with the statutory mandate to register and process marriage certificate, legal instruments, administrative authorizations and is as well the custodian of all national documents and records.
